چکیده

Since antennas are strong radar targets, their cross section (RCS) reduction and radiation enhancement is of utmost necessity, particularly for stealth platforms. This work proposes the design a Fabry–Perot Cavity (FPC) antenna which has wideband low monostatic RCS. While in transmission mode, not only gain achieved, but beam also deflected elevation plane. Moreover, low-profile, i.e., cavity height ~λ/4. A patch designed at 6 GHz serves as excitation source constructed between metallic ground plane superstrate. The superstrate structure formed with absorptive frequency selective surface (AFSS) conjunction dual-sided partially reflective (PRS). Resistor loaded rings serve AFSS, while PRS from inductive gradated mesh on one side to realize phase gradient deflection; other fixed capacitive elements. Results show that RCS was achieved 4–16 GHz, average about 8.5 dB over reference antenna. Off-broadside peak −38° approaching ~9.4 dB. Simulation measurement results presented.

Monopole Antenna Radar Cross Section Reduction with Plasma Helix

In this paper, a new method for radar cross section reduction of a monopole antenna is proposed. In this method, a plasma helix like fluorescent bulbs is placed around the antenna element. The selected plasma parameter for this medium acts as an absorber without disturbing the antenna performance. The simulations show that radar cross section of simulated antenna is reduced in a wide frequency ...

A Low Radar Cross Section Dipole Antenna Simulation

This paper reports a new method for reducing the Radar Cross-Section (RCS) of a metal backed dipole antenna. Numerical simulations are used to show that when the Perfect Electrical Conductor (PEC) is replaced by a carefully designed Frequency Selective Surface (FSS), the electromagnetic performance of the antenna is similar in band, but the RCS of the structure is significantly lower out of ban...

Novel Planar Antenna with a Broadside Radiation

This paper presents a novel low-profile antenna with a broadside radiation. The proposed design strategy consists in modifying the layout of a classical Vivaldi antenna, thus resulting in compact dimensions and a broadside radiation pattern. Two different ways of implementing the proposed design approach are presented and discussed. More specifically, experimental data referring to two prototyp...

Ultra-Wideband Monostatic Antenna for behind the Wall Detection

Received Aug 11, 2017 Revised Oct 22, 2017 Accepted Nov 4, 2017 This article introduces an ultra-wideband (UWB) shifted arc antenna, designed using Rogers RT-5880 Duroid substrate for the human detection behind the wall. The frequency for this proposed antenna ranges from 2.8 15.6GHz with the gain of around 6.05dB. A high gain for antenna has been achieved by the implementation of defected grou...

Wideband Millimeter - Wave Cavity - Backed Bowtie Antenna

Although many directive antennas operating in a narrow band of millimeter (mm) waves were reported, e.g., antennas for 60GHz wireless local area network (WLAN), their wideband counterparts are still unpopular. Cavity-backed antennas (CBAs) are widely developed and reported in microwave frequency bands, but handful of literatures can be found about mm-wave CBAs in spite that their many propertie...
